Comics - Chapter 7 - 349

Vincent's Social Skill Score: -5 - 30 years in a coffin didn't teach him any tact, eh?

On a more serious note, my husband was informed last week that his job is being outsourced (he's getting laid off at the end of the year, in other words). I'm not sure what this will eventually mean for the comic, but for now it just means "If you want to send me money so I can keep making comics instead of getting a real job in order to keep our house, go right on ahead!" XD

Seriously, this won't be affecting the comic situation until the end of the year, depending on what the future brings. I'll warn you guys well in advance if there's another long hiatus coming.

Does Vincent look slightly hurt in the big close-up? Or is it just my imagination?

posted by andygoth on 10th Apr 2008

Wow...

What a great expression!

Enkida, one of the things you could do to earn some money is do commissions. It's not really a 'job' job, but it would help.

Enkida,

I hope everything works out. Nice job on this page. :)

What a sad expression Vincent has! Great job! Haha, Yuffie too. :D I really love this page, probably my fav yet.

Sorry to hear about the lay off. At least they gave a long notice to get things situated.

  meh...

Sorry about the job, that's really awful news... I hope everything works out! I love this comic to death... <<;;; it's one of the things I look forward to most during the schoolweek... XP so I hope it stays around.

Also, Vincent's puppydog eyes right there are just too cute for words! XD

  @andygoth

Not just YOUR imagination. He looks kind of hurt, sad, regretful.... *wipes away a tear*

And then there he is trying to make it all better. As if. There's only one way....

OMG, this whole comic should just be made into a musical. Can you imagine how awesome and totally fitting that would be? =D

I'm really sorry to hear about your husband's job, Enkida. I hope things work out for you guys.

D:

That is such bad news! He's looking already for another job right?

Should things get tough by the end of the year you could try doing what other webartists do by setting up a "If you donate this such and such much money I'll give an update." It seems to really work and helps keep things afloat.

We should try getting this comic up to a higher rating on TWC. Growth to #1!!!

Aww man this means that fanfics will also suffer bigger delays.

Needless to say I'm wishing your husband all the best for finding a new job.

Also, great page! I gotta agree with Andygoth, Vincent does look hurt. (Great job on that expression, really.)

ugh, Sorry about the outsourcing... I really do hope the situation gets righted soon and he;ll have an even better, maybe more fullfilling job? ...Like a rollercoaster tester! That would be fun!

@Neph: *picturing said musical* Wow...but the thing is, Nanaki is a kitty...would he be able to sing? *shivers at the thought of all those firecats singing offkey* @_@0

posted by Naleh (Guest) on 11th Apr 2008

Of course cats can sing - there's a Lion King musical, no? ;)

Looks like I forgot

But I really do love how you had done Vincent's hair close up like that. It looks different from what you're doing. Alot smoother. Actually the coloring in general looks smoother.

New pens/markers/brush?

Damn now this is brining out my fondness for long haired men.

Ouch...sorry to hear about your husband's job, good thing there's a long notice so he's got time to hopefully get settled.

looks like my previous prediction was right...although in my opinion, i don't think it's Vince's lack of tact that brought this up (and he really can't be blamed for it either), but rather yuffie's jumping to conclusions.

loving this comic as always

Oh ya-andygoth, look back one page in the comments

"Scant few hours"!? It took me four hours to drive from Edmonton to Cold Lake! That's four hours too many; Air Canada Jazz flies into the airbase in Bagotville (Saguenay), so all I have to do is drive to the hotel. But here in Cold Lake the closest I can get is Edmonton! As you know, YEG is actually in Nisku, half an hour south of the real Edmonton. And my connecting flight went through Toronto! Today I spent sixteen hours traveling, and I still had work to do after all that.

Hmm, I wonder if I can get a flight into Lloydminster instead. Any other ideas? I hear Cold Lake Regional is only open during the summer.

The weather's just fine, actually. I'm very glad for that; I didn't want to have to drive on ice, not even in a four-wheel drive vehicle.

On the plane I made very good progress on the page I'm coloring. I should be done very soon. KoShiatar, thanks for telling me how you did the hair on page #346, but I can't go that route with just a stick mouse. Instead I start with a custom furry GIMPressionist, smudge it the way I want it to go, jack up the sharpness, and adjust the colors. This makes the hair stand out a little too strongly, but it's the best I can do. Check out the Chapter 2 Cover to see what this looks like. Feel free to comment on the technique, but I suggest posting the comments on the Chapter 2 Cover page.

Well, I'd recommend Fort McMurray if there was a better way to get to Cold Lake...but really, Edmonton is about the closest you're going to get Andygoth. I'm personally in Leduc atm...and I haven't been to Cold Lake in yeeeeears.

Beyond that, I don't know where to get the quickest route is.

That close-up on Vincent's face reminds me a lot of Edward Scissorhands in a strange way.

posted by Charles Xavier (Guest) on 12th Apr 2008

Kadamon, I am told that it's possible to get snowed in at Fort McMurray in the the middle of July. It's five hours *north* of Cold Lake on 63 via 55. But thanks anyway for the suggestion. Some time in the future a coworker will try taking the twelve-passenger turboprop to Lloydminster, which is only two hours from Cold Lake on 897 via 16.

KoShiatar, I posted a follow-up comment on the Chapter 2 Cover page.

Fort Mac being snowed in, though, I haven't heard of. Might just be because I'm that far south of them, but July and summer in general are pretty safe from the snow.

Who knows. If Lloydminster will be less driving, I say go for it.

It happened in the 80's a couple freak snowstorms up there usually though, it's above +30. I hated living there and I can't wait to move to Red Deer.

Ok...as Andygoth said, he's either hurt or that's his "wut?" face. And I know how you feel Yuffie! I ended up doing the same thing! This guy I liked was saying how our teacher was a pain and annoying, and I ended up saying stupid stuff.
